Chamonix - Mont Blanc, just 50 minutes drive from Geneva, is a bustling alpine town surrounded by truly breathtaking scenery and famed for mountaineering. Situated in the Haute-Savoie region of France, Chamonix is bordered by Switzerland and Italy and dominated by the dramatic Aiguilles de Chamonix mountain chain which peaks at the top of mont Blanc (4810m) - the highest mountain in western Europe.
In the summer Chamonix becomes a lush green valley, with natural terrain as rugged as it is enchanting. When the snow recedes, footpaths appear framed with alpine plants and flowers; the sun glances off the deep azure blues of the lakes and rivers, and picks out the gleaming white peaks along the Mont Blanc range.
The Evergreen Endurance team wish to showcase this perfect backdrop and stunning alpine environment with creative and beautiful 118 and 228 triathlon courses.
Whilst Chamonix is probably best known as the skiing and alpine capital of the world, the EG team hope to express another side, that of a premier endurance sport destination maintaining its extreme reputation. On the other hand this rugged environment, can mask a wide array of less demanding leisure activities to be found and the scenery can be enjoyed at whichever pace suits you. The Chamonix Valley offers 350 km of superbly maintained hiking trails, easily accessible by ski lift providing some of the Alps' most thrilling panoramas. Chamonix boasts a great nightlife, and the vibrant streets of France’s oldest ski resort fare a colourful mix of sports shops, guides offices, bars and cafes, even spas and leisure facilities. Indeed there is a real community and every Saturday the town hosts an outdoor market brimming with local Savoyard crafts and products. The list of other sports is endless and includes horse riding, white water rafting, kayaking, swimming, canyoning, climbing , cycling, mountain biking and para-gliding to name a few.
